An Ice Hotel- Curiosity Postcards
Dear Friend,
Just a little postcard to share with you about my true, first solo-travel trip.
For nearly a decade, I had wondered what it would be like to explore an Ice Hotel. They weren’t widely known about back then, like they are now. So, when I talked about them, it intrigued other people, too.
The original Ice Hotel is in Sweden, but the other option at the time would be Qûebec, Canada. I decided on the latter, and to go during their Winter Carnival. Amazing! The sculptures were twice as tall as me, and so intricate. And the Ice Hotel was an art piece that could only exist because of passion and precision.
There was a slide from “Frozen” and I even got to carve my own ice cup. I met a lot of great people, so I never felt ‘alone’. In fact, when someone from a family had asked me why I was traveling alone, I responded ‘because I wanted to’. And with that, he nudged another female in his group in encouragement.
Sometimes we think our actions are for us alone. In truth, they are permission slips for everyone else. And for reasons that could be unimaginable to you.
With love,
Sheila
I mean, I am a Flight Attendant. Cheers to flying, with the Ice Cup I sculpted in hand. =)
